This week I’m back with another wine from California’s small producer Le P’tit Paysan, this brand breathes elegance in the bottle. Even though it’s been years since I went back to Monterrey Bay, I must say it is a breathtaking drive on highway 1. You get to see the farmland, Oceanside attractions and amazing restaurants to eat at. Monterrey is just amazing so why wouldn’t be the wines they produce.

The winemaker of the Paysan Jack Hills Chardonnay is Ian, well known for his natural approaches with winemaking and organic farming well demonstrated on the bottle label.
This wine is unique coming from the Monterey bay area. Since number of the plethora is covered with limestone where does Ian get the perfect climate match to produce such amazing wine. Well La belle Rose Vineyard, is where the grapes come from, the grapes are planted on an iron oxide granite soil. The climate on the east side of Salinas Valley tend to be rather cooler in the temps, which allows the grapes to ripen with acidity making this wine just amazing.

Chardonnay is one of the most versatile grapes and I personally love chardonnay, each unique in their own way depending where they are grown. Jack Hill chardonnay isn’t your buttery oak chardonnay, it’s rather well balanced fruity and full of acidity.
To the nose you get your long fruity smell, apple, pear, peach, apricot, lemon, lime, orange, pineapple, kiwi, butter, cream, and dash of vanilla.
To taste you have a long taste of fruit such as apple, pear, pineapple, and peach with a clean oak finish. Pairing chardonnay can be fun you can pair it with seafood, or marinated chicken, my personal favorite is garlic butter shrimp pasta.
Salud !
